A beautiful deep green piece of Ocean Jasper, framed in silver, with textured leaves dangling from layers of silver chain. This necklace was designed for movement, and music. The chain dangles dance around as you go about your business, and the leaves jingle against each other making soft silver music.
Ocean Jasper has become rare over the past few years, as the mine is no longer producing material, so it's harder and harder to find big, quality specimens like this, especially with that magical deep earthy green coloring. This stone came from the collection of a lapidary artist who has been in the biz for over 40 years. He told me he cut this one so long ago he did't remember when, just that he had saved it and it was in his personal stash for a long time.
Built by hand in a simple sterling silver setting, and given a darkened oxidized patina that highlights the textural details and makes the colors pop.
Chain length 21", the stone measures almost 2" across and 1.25" long, the chain dangles are 6" long making the entire piece from top of the stone to bottom of the longest leaf just over 7" long.
